  • Turn all the notifications off your various social media platforms except only the very important applications to avoid checking your smartphones again and again.
  • Whenever you feel an  irresistible urge to use your smartphone even while working, shut your eyes and practice deep-breathing techniques for a few seconds.
  • Remove all the social media apps and games from your smartphone. Though this might cause some  inconvenience initially, but in the long run it will help you to overcome your addiction.
  • Delete all unwanted apps from your smartphones to reduce your chances of getting addicted. Limit your smartphone usage by setting specific goals for yourself.
  • Do not use your device during meals, before going to sleep, at work etc. Set reasonable goals at first and gradually increase the number of targets with time.
  • Stop using all Whatsapp group chats or at least turn them off without quitting the groups to avoid unnecessary distractions.
  • Send all inactive chats and conversations on your smartphones to the archives or remove them altogether. Do not answer all your text messages right after receiving them except in cases of emergencies from family members or friends etc.
  • Reply to your text messages during definite time intervals. Do not constantly check your device for new messages.
  • Before going to sleep, always switch off your smartphone or keep it outside your bedroom for charging.
  • Do not set morning alarms on your smartphones and stop using them during working hours. Use an alarm clock instead.
  • Before starting any work, keep your smartphone in silent mode or in another room. Take the help of various apps to keep a track of your smartphone usage and limit it.
  • Use a wrist watch to check out the time instead of smartphones. Then you can also give the device to your family members or friends before starting any work.
  • Take the help of your friends and family members to get rid of your addiction. Penalize yourself by giving them some money if you fail to limit your smartphone usage.
